CMS is the abbreviation for Content Management System. It is a specialist software that allows website updating. CMS separates the content of a website from its layout - it enables to edit the content within the existing graphic layout. Another name is WCMS - Web Content Management System, an editing system.

     CMS is applied mainly in those Internet services requiring constant updating (portals, vortals, Internet stores, corporation services), but also in those websites that are updated rarely.
